Advanced –
Is for students who are confident at the lope and are ready to improve techniques. They learn refinement, and advanced maneuvers. Students in advanced have been in lessons for many seasons or regularly ride at home. Please contact the horsemanship director about this level if you have not been in our program before
Skills Needed Before Advanced
- Confident at the lope
- Can lope around the entire arena with a good seat
- Can steer by loping in a circle
- Uses Legs and body weight to steer
- Comfortable riding English and jumping small jumps
Skilled Learned
- Ground work training and lunging
- Coordinating aids to refine maneuvers
- Rein contact and positions, seat and weight, and leg timing
- Better control and transitions of all gates – walk, trot, and lope
- Western – neck reining, turn backs, gymkhana techniques
